How large are Woven Rosa Rugs?

All of our rugs are handmade by various different artisans on backstrapped looms. Therefore, all the rugs that we sell are of different sizes. The majority of our rugs fall into two different shapes which we call small and large rugs. Our small rugs typically are around 80cm wide and 160cm long, these are great as carpet runners for halls. Our large rugs are two smaller rugs conjoined so measurements are roughly 160cm x 190cm.

What material are your textiles?

Our textiles from the Pacha Collection are made out of either sheep wool or alpaca fibre. The wool is sheered from the animals that are reared in the artisans villages then spun, dyed and woven into rugs, cushions or throws ready for the next adventure. Take a look here to see the difference between sheep and alpaca.

How to clean a rug?

Animal fibre is generally quite a stain resistant material and most stains should come out with a little help from a cold damp cloth. However if there seems to be a particularly stubborn stain, sprinkle baking soda on the stain and leave for an hour then vacuum off, you may need to repeat this and then clean with a damp cloth later.

Every couple of months we would recommend shaking or beating all of the dust out of your rug. All of our rugs are durable and are easily folded to make it a little easier for you to shake. For kitchen rugs or spaces with high footfall we would recommend doing this every month.

You can also use a steamer to clean your rug which will freshen the material.

What happens if a rug has pulls?

All of our rugs are made by our artisan partners & occasionally, threads may pull. Don’t panic! You can carefully pull the tread back through from the other side of the textile. As a last resort you can cut the top of the loop and tie the two pieces together in a double knot and cut away the excess yarn. You may then be able to work the knot into the rug so it appears brand new again.

Where can I find you?

You can find us listed in various small business directories throughout the web.

Does natural dye fade?

Natural dyes are all locally sourced ingredients from the Andes; with recipes that have been used for centuries with very little changing since been used by the Incas. The dyes used, depending on the colour and the intensity, can fade over long periods of time. However your rugs beauty will not fade - the wear of your rug will add character to it’s story.

We do advise you keep your textiles out of direct sunlight to preserve the colour.

Does natural dye run?

Natural fixing agents are used in the process to dye our textiles so the dye should not run. However we recommend using an underlay to provide protection for the rug.

How are naturally dyed textiles made?
